Smartwatch Garage Door Opener
Our favorite project this week is a smartwatch garage opener! Morgan Hallgren developed an incredible project where a button on his smartwatch triggers an IFTTT applet that sends a command to his Omega2 to open or close his garage door. Very James Bond!
Morgan setups an Omega2 to control his garage door with a relay, and then configured it to be controllable via MQTT using a publish/subscribe model. Basically, open and close commands can be sent to the Omega to control the relay as well as monitor the current status of the garage door. Finally, what makes this project super special is the IFTTT integration with Morgan’s Kronaby smartwatch. A single button press on the side of the watch and open sesame!
