Introducing the Onion Tau LiDAR Camera, our brand new 3D depth camera.
It’s like a regular webcam, except that it produces 3D depth data instead of color frames. It’s USB-based and plug-and-play, so plug it into your computer and it will power on and start sending depth measurement frames with just a few commands.
The Tau Camera is an affordable next step beyond single-point depth or one-dimensional scanner solutions, and serves as a great starting point for 3D depth sensing.
It comes bundled with a Web App to visualize the 3D depth measurements right out of the box. And a Python API is available for building your own applications. Both the web app and Python API are open source!
